For more than a decade, Mark has had a Daneson hanging to the side of his grin. And this collaboration is something we've been keen on doing equally as long.

There is no exaggeration when I say, you are as likely to see Mark stomping a big mountain as you are to see him driving cattle.
It doesn't stop there. Depending on the season, you can also find him hunting big game, fishing, or just plain old living an aesthetic we all wish for. Always with a Daneson.
Mark reached out to me more than ten years ago. He was an enthusiast, and I was happy to furnish him with some of Daneson's first batches. However, after more than an hour on the phone, it became clear that we had found something more.
We talked at length about what blows our hair back and the values behind what we do. We found considerable overlap. Starting Daneson was one helluva flyer of a bet, made possible by an early life of problematic decisions, and Mark's march from Ten Sleep cowboy through to pro snowboarder, and the life he built was epic.
I've always felt fortunate to have Mark in our corner. He's not just a champion of Daneson; he's a rock that, more than once, has pushed me to stick to my guns and keep the faith—in that, when times are tough, how you survive is just as important as surviving.
For Mark, we didn't just dust off our old Smoked No.5 recipe; we reimagined it, further perfecting the blend to capture the true spirit of his slow-cured Western tradition.
This release carries the unmistakable character of hickory smoke with a touch of sea salt—a blend born of patience, persistence, and a touch of Wyoming air.
